Building Confidence,One climb at a time.

Outdoor Gateways gives New Mexico youth in Taos the chance to discover rock climbing, building confidence, community, and a love for the outdoors.

About Outdoor Gateways

Outdoor Gateways is a Taos, New Mexico nonprofit that introduces underprivileged youth to rock climbing. We work with local communities, including Taos Pueblo, to give kids access to an activity they might never otherwise experience.

Climbing teaches problem-solving, focus, and self-reliance. It's a sport where patience matters more than size, and every small victory builds real confidence. For many of these kids, it's the first time they've been challenged — and the first time they've pushed through.

Our guides meet each kid at their level, starting low and progressing at each child's own pace. The goal isn't to just create climbers, it's to show kids what they're capable of.

501( c )( 3 ) Status

Outdoor Gateways is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Taos, New Mexico. We believe access to outdoor climbing, and the career pathways that follow it, should be a right for every young person in the state, not a privilege.

Outdoor Gateways began with Taos Pueblo and expanded through schools, alternative programs, and youth organizations across the region. Every program is designed in coordination with the partner community.
